Welcome to Cheryl Carty'SHomepage!A brief introduction about Ms. Carty's dance experience:A graduate from North Carolina School of the Arts (Ballet major), BA from Eckerd College-(Creative Writing): Ms. Carty is a founding Board member of Manatee School For the Arts, as well as Dance Co-Chair with Ms.Kelly Burnette.Ms. Carty spent thirteen years in NYC working as a professional dancer,choreographer, and teacher.Her credits include performing as a Radio City Music Hall Rockette (10 years), touring internationally with American Chamber Ballet Co.(NYC Carneigie Hall based), and choreographing the off-off Broadway revival Seesaw,Broadway workshop,Abelard and Eloise,NYC Operetta’s, television promos starring Tina Turner, and original theater productions.Ms. Carty has guest taught for American Dance Machine, Fancy Dancer studios, and various colleges in the U.S.In Florida, she owned/operated Carty Academy of Theater Dance,and continued to direct/choreograph award winning musicals, such as Crazy for You, Brigadoon, and Godspell(as well as eleven other shows)in the sarasota and mantaee Players theater community.She has been a member of Actor's Equity, American Guild Variety Artists, Dance Masters of America, and Dance Eduators of America. Her favorite performance roles Cassie in A Chorus Line and Roxie in Chicago.She has produced ballet and musical theater dancers that have acheived world wide success from Bush gardens, New York City ballet to international touring productions.She is proud to have created a one hour character ballet, Alice in Wonderland that performs with a cast of 150 +plus annually at MSA in January(since 2009).Currently Ms. Carty teaches ballet levels I-IV middle/high school, tap/jazz II, and often directs MSA's big faculty/student musical events.
